Everyone starts somewhere, right?
Today, I’m offering a second edition of my short story “Unicorn“. This was my first self-published short story, appearing in the Mill Pages magazine. This version includes some slight edits, mostly for style, and a couple changes to make it consistent with the world building that will follow.
I love this story. It was my first attempt at a dark fantasy, and it’s set in a world that’s been brewing in my head for years. For this particular story, I focused on trying to create rich imagery and tone. I’ve always enjoyed adventure stories about brave people climbing mountains and exploring distant wilderness. “Unicorn” channels my love of adventure, while also hinting at the political and social context of it’s world.
I hope you enjoy it. If you do, I encourage you to support the Mill Pages by purchasing a copy here.
